Giving Back Across Canada

It’s the season of giving at Sleeman Breweries! We’re committed to supporting the communities where we live and work across the country. In 2024, we supported a number of charitable organizations that help make life better for people in our communities.

We strive to support organizations that help reduce isolation and encourage connection with a specific focus on making life better for vulnerable people.

This year, we supported six organizations that are making a difference in BC, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec.

BC

Delta - $5,000 to DiverseCITY
Serving Surrey, Langley, Delta, White Rock and beyond, DiverseCITY connects new Canadians with inclusive, innovative and culturally safe programs and services to help them navigate life in Canada. Programs offered by DiverseCITY include supports focused on settlement, language, employment and training, food security, mental health, 2SLGBTQIA+, and refugees.

Vernon - $5,000 to Turning Points, donated on behalf of Okanagan Spring Brewery
Turning Points provides a continuum of services for individuals in the Okanagan. They provide outreach, shelter services and housing options for vulnerable people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness. Turning Points also helps with programming focused on employment, addiction recovery and affordable housing.

ALBERTA

Calgary & Edmonton - $10,000 to Veterans Foodbank of Alberta, donated on behalf of Wild Rose Brewery

The Veterans Foodbank of Alberta supports those who have served in any branch of the Canadian Armed Forces and Reserves, as well as first responders. They serve food security and other resource needs, including financial assistance, group and individual therapy, clothing and laundry.

ONTARIO

Guelph – $10,000 to The Grove
This donation specifically supports The Grove’s Hub at the University at Guelph with a focus on students attending the university. The Grove helps young adults navigate the complicated mental health system and receive the supports they need, at the right time, all in one place. Partnering with existing resources in the community, The Grove helps address substance use and mental health challenges and offers inclusive spaces, career counselling, housing support and promotes overall wellness.

QUEBEC

Throughout Quebec - $5,000 to Banques alimentaires du Québec

This unified network brings food donations to the people who need it most throughout Quebec. They handle 2.9 million requests for food assistance every month. Banques alimentaires du Quebec focuses on building cooperation between multiple organizations with similar goals by soliciting, recovering and redistributing food and financial donations.

Chambly - $5,000 to POSA, donated on behalf of Unibroue

A community organization focused on supporting young adults age 35 and under, POSA (Porte Ouverte Sur l'Avenir) offers several services, including housing for youth aging out of the foster system, a clinic, outreach for young people living on the street, food security and more. Unibroue has been a supporter of POSA for several years.

Throughout the year, Sleeman Breweries supports a variety of organizations that provide important support. This includes True North Aid, the United Way/Centraide, The Red Cross’s disaster relief efforts, and our own Sleeman Better Water Fund that provides funding to organizations focused on Canadian water preservation and clean water access.

At Sleeman Breweries, we’re proud to be part of our communities and to help them become healthy places to live and thrive.
