La Fin du Monde Wins Silver at World Beer Cup 2023

With 29 years of experience under its belt, Unibroue’s La Fin du Monde continues to rack up the medals. At the 2023 World Beer Cup, La Fin du Monde won silver in the “Triple – Belgian Style” category, ahead of 96 other competitors.

Known for its distinct notes of grains, fruits and spice and its slight bitterness, La Fin du Monde is no stranger to the podium. This year’s win is the 62nd medal La Fin du Monde has received, each a testament to its rich, defined taste.

For a beer with almost three decades of history, what made 2023 unique? More than a year of research and development was needed in order to offer this refermented beer in a can, rather than in its traditional bottle.

“Unibroue invested several million dollars in 2020 to install its canning line,” says Lisiane Jobidon, National Brand Manager. “The investment is helping our signature beers meet customers’ changing interests.”

This can-refermented version caught judges’ attention at the “Olympics of Beer” and won La Fin du Monde the silver.

“The La Fin du Monde has seen excellent growth since its launch in cans, with sales up 21% in the first quarter of this year,” says Lisiane.

Unibroue, which has operated in Chambly, Québec since 1992, remains Canada’s most awarded brewery, having received 427 international awards.

La Fin du Monde is a tribute to Québec and the 16th-century French explorers, who – when they encountered it for the first time – thought they had reached the end of the world. Those who try it agree the beer is like nothing else on earth.
